Adding an opponent is now a request
Until now, adding another Straight Pool Deluxe user as an opponent connected the two of you immediately: your games against them appeared in their history whether they wanted them or not. Starting with 6.1, adding someone sends them a request.
What that means for you, the one adding:
- Find them by username or email as before. They go into your player list right away, marked as not yet connected, and you can play them immediately.
- Games you score against them are saved and synced to your account as always. They are held for the other person until they accept.
- When they accept your request, every game between you, past and future, syncs to both iPads with no further steps.
- If they decline, nothing changes on your side. Your games and stats stay exactly as they are.
What the other person sees:
- A Requests screen under Settings with your request and a line for each game you scored against them, with the date and score.
- They choose per game, or accept everything at once. Accepting a single game adds just that game to their history; accepting the request makes you opponents.
- They can decline with an optional note, which you’ll see under Sent.
Requests, Sent, and Send Again
Settings now has a Requests screen. Received shows what others have asked of you. Sent shows what you’ve asked of others and how it ended, and a declined or expired request can be sent again from there. A request that was declined can be re-sent after a week.
Smaller things
- Pull down on the Players list to sync.
- Reinstalled the app? Log In now comes first with your username filled in.
- The app now syncs when you come back to it if it has been more than ten minutes, so an opponent’s acceptance, or a game they scored against you, shows up without a trip to Settings.
- If an opponent removes you, the app tells you once, in plain words. They stay in your player list, marked not connected, so a rematch is one tap.
Already have opponents? Nothing changes
Everyone already in your player list stays connected exactly as before. This release only changes how new connections are made.
